The Advent of the Holidays

Oh for some cool weather to put us in the holiday spirit.

Perhaps these European Advent calendars produced in the colder climate of Germany will help you get in the mood. A local photographer scours Europe to find just the right structure and setting with plenty of windows and doors. After photographing them he transforms the photos into unique advent calendars with 24 hinged openings, one for every day of December through Christmas Eve. I'm feeling cooler already.

The art of writing is alive and well at Paper Emporium. Check out our two new calligraphy classes. Intro to Calligraphy will take place on Tuesdays Nov 3, 10, 17 & 24 from 7-9 p.m.

Elegant Addressing is perfect whether you are a do-it-yourself bride, event planner or simply an avid writer. No experience necessary, just a willingness to learn and express yourself. Classes on Thursday Nov. 12 and 19 7-9 p.m.

How to Create an Effective Resume Workshop
‘…everything you need to make the right first impression, every time’

Join us on Thursday, August 6 and August 13 from 7 to 9 p.m. to learn how you can prepare and present an effective resume to obtain the job of your dreams. In these two sessions you will learn keys for designing a resume that sets you apart from the crowd and attracts the attention of top employers. The course will be facilitated by Pat Morgan, President of Miami-based Smooth Sailing Executive and Life Coaching. Pat is actively involved in her community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. Pat is also the recipient of the 2007 Thelma Gibson Award in recognition of her excellence in promoting leadership, business development and excellence among professional and corporate women. Pat will guide you through the steps and show how you can highlight your skills, play to your strengths and design your individual resume for success.

Price of the Resume Workshop is $150.00 for the two sessions of two hours per evening. Each participant will receive Crane’s booklet, Guide to Writing an Effective Resume as well as free layout and proof of your resume.

Artists' Way Workshop

Are you creatively blocked??? If so, we have just the remedy. For the past few weeks we have been conducting workshop's based on Julia Cameron's best selling book, The Artist's Way. A series of 'artist dates' and writing daily morning pages help you to rediscover your path to living a creative life. We are a collective and eclectic 'bunch of characters' all from various backgrounds and cultures but with a common desire to fulfill our creative selves. Last week's task was to assemble a collage, basically a rip and shred 20 minute exercise of images torn from magazines or the like. When assembled the collages revealed dreams and discoveries about ourselves that we may not have been aware. The sacred circle of participants helps support each of us as we break through sometimes scary or even painful blocks that we have held for many years. The goal is to move forward, with baby steps and a 'leap and the net will appear' philosophy. Pick up a copy of the book and enjoy the ride.
